Artisan, Kendal

Enjoyed a fine meal at Artisan, Kendal on Saturday night. If you don't know where I mean, it's the cafe looking place under Booths.

They also open a few evenings of the week. We were warmly greeted (not always a given when eating out) and settled in to a mainly empty restaurant - something which I quite like as the evenings of others don't intrude on yours.

That said, there was something a little odd about eating beneath a supermarket...

At the time they were running an offer where if you ordered a main meal, your dessert or starter was half price.

I plumped for a sausage and chicken salad to start and followed up with a seafood risotto with rocket and parmesan. For once, I picked right and the portions were both well sized and delicious.

There were six of us eating and we all had a starter and a main course washed down with a beer and a bottle of Rose. All told, it came to a shade under £90 which was really good value for money.

Highly recommended. Give it a try!
